"ON CHASING THE DREAM
Growing up, I had the weird fantasy list: I wanted to be Alice Cooper, Steven Spielberg, and Stan Lee. You have to have almost psychotic drive, because you're going to have years of failure. My advice: Don't quit. When I got to New York City, I lived so far below the poverty line, because I didn't give in and get a job at 7-Eleven. I think you can thrive in misery. Great things come out of being hungry and cold. Once you're pampered, you get lazy. I still don't do anything to pamper myself. My feminine side dropped dead a long time ago.
ON CHANGING YOUR LIFE
I was a really sickly kid, one of those kids like, "Here's your 25 pills, and you can't be in gym class." One day in high school, I was like, F--- it, I'm not taking any more medicine. I'm going to join the track team, and if I drop dead, fine. And of course I got healthier. I stopped eating red meat. Even my asthma went away. I still eat super, super healthy all the time, and I take health quite seriously. I haven't had red meat in 25 years.
ON HOW, YES, FAMILY VALUES MATTER
My parents were very all-American, but there was a weird side where my mom and her whole family worked in carnivals. Some of the carnies looked like characters in my movie. That ended in '77 when a riot broke out--in fact, my brother and I got caught in the middle of it. We were poor, we didn't have anything, but my dad switched gears and worked two jobs insanely hard. He never complained and was never mean. He instilled that in us. They never made a show of it, but my parents were also very matter-of-fact nice to everyone.
ON USELESS ANXIETY
You can't worry about a plane crash. What are you going to do? Complain all the way down to the ground? Might as well just enjoy the roller-coaster ride. It doesn't pay to worry. I don't believe in fate, because I'm not spiritual, but things do seem to work out. It's about having the right attitude. Steve McQueen said something like, "I have no complaints, ever, about anything." That's how I feel. When I'm stuck in traffic, so what, I've got air-conditioning, I'm listening to music. F--- it, I'm happy; it's like a disco.
ON RAGE
I used to have a really bad temper. One day I realized, "This is stupid." You don't have to go into therapy and cry about it, just knock it off. But it's still there. I have two speeds: really mellow and psychotic. I just try not to let psychotic happen. When I get really pissed, the thing that calms me is my dog. Dracula is a pug and is so hypersensitive that even if you laugh too loud, he gets so terrified and starts like he's having a panic attack. So I stay calm because I know he'll freak out. Dracula's my stress barometer.
ON THROWING A BLOODY GREAT HALLOWEEN PARTY
There's nothing worse than a Halloween party where all the lights are on. Invest in a few colored lightbulbs. Don't let anyone in without a spooky costume. A Hawaiian shirt is not a costume. If you've got TVs, play classic Universal and Hammer horror films. Gotta have cool music, like creepy surf music that sounds like it's from The Munsters. It's not the time for the new Fiona Apple record. If it ain't working at that point, you probably need some new friends.

That was a pretty interesting article, and Rob Zombie was probably the LAST guy I figured I'd be reading about in Men's Health!
